Children & Families

Activities and groups specifically designed for children and young people

Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’

At St Michael’s we take these words of Jesus seriously. Children of all ages are welcome at any and all of our services; in addition, we have a number of activities and groups specifically designed for children and young people.

Junior Church & All Age Eucharists

At the 9.30am Sung Eucharist, Junior Church meets in the parish centre with teaching and activities designed for young people. Junior Church is run by a team of leaders, all of whom have undergone DBS checks and safeguarding training. There are groups for ages 0-5 and 5-11. All Age Eucharists are typically held once a month. Instead of the children going out for Junior Church, all the generations are given the opportunity of worshipping and learning about the love of God together, and children are able to get involved alongside adults in different aspects of the service, from taking part in the sermon, greeting worshipers, to leading the readings or intercessions.

St Michael’s Tots

Our weekly Babies and Toddlers Session happens on Tuesday mornings in the Parish Centre, from 9.15-11am. Little ones with their parents and carers are very welcome to join Jonny and the tots team for singing, chat, play and snacks. There is no charge and no need to book.

St Michael’s School

Since its foundation, St Michael’s C of E Primary School has had a close relationship with the parish church and is proud of its Christian heritage and foundation. The whole school (and many of the children’s parents/carers) worships in church every Wednesday at 9.10 with hymns, a reading from the Bible, prayers, and a talk by the Vicar or one of the clergy team. If you are interested in your child joining the school please contact the school office on admin@stmichaels.herts.sch.uk for information about open days and entry criteria.
